Rescue mission Pt. 2.

Katie stood there, the look on her face was, it was, I’ve never seen someone look that angry. (Except maybe my Mum when I tried to “invent” a new kind of cereal/drink and after an altercation with a food processor our kitchen never quite got rid of the smell.)

She was holding the syringe in one hand and a gun in the other. Eli said, “Helena would you mind.” The incredibly gorgeous woman pulled her gun and trained it on Katie. She marched up to her and pulled the syringe and the gun out of her hands. (Making it safe for Eli to approach… coward.)

I felt Michael pull me towards Katie, slowly trying not to make any noise. Eli also began moving closer to her, his hand outstretched and he was ranting on about all the horrible things he was going to make Katie do (Eugh! That man’s creepy.) Michael nudged me and gestured towards Katie. Eli was inches away from making contact with Katie’s skin when I slipped my hand into hers and watched Eli’s face change from triumph to panic and confusion as she vanished.

I think the expression is. BOOYAH! (I don’t think I should ever say that again, I don’t have the accent to pull it off.)

Keeping all three of us invisible was unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. I was having trouble staying on my feet. We led Katie (who obviously couldn’t see) towards the exit as fast as we could while the bad guys were waiving and pointing their guns at random thin air (what do you suppose they thought that would achieve?) Before we could get to the door a huge wall of fire appeared in front of us, blocking our escape. That’s when I started feeling really ill and before either of them could figure out our next move (lets face it I’m not in any position to strategize, even under normal circumstances) I collapsed, feeling like I was about to vomit or die (or both.) Making us all much less transparent than before.

Bugger.

Eli spotted us and smiled smugly at Katie and Michael “Well that was a pretty much pointless exercise wasn’t it?” He then looked at me. “Who are you?” I opened my mouth to try and speak but it wasn’t really working. “I don’t care.” He said, abruptly nodding at the Russian in the corner who aimed his gun at me.

I heard Michael shout as I stared at the gun and then he tried to tackle the Russian as a shot rang out…

…and then. And then searing hot pain and a force like being punched really hard, it hit my shoulder shoving me from my knees into the ground.

I heard footsteps and Katie’s voice and I saw her shoes coming towards me (I had an odd thought, that she always has such nice shoes, not with horrible smudges and scratches on them like mine.) Then a foot stepped over me from behind stopping Katie in her tracks. I looked up and could see Michael in a kind of stand off with the Russian there was fire all around them.

Eli kept advancing towards Katie who backed up her eyes moving between Michael, Eli and Me. I saw Helena standing a little behind Eli, she still had the syringe in her hand (I remember thinking I wished she would slip and stab him with it. Although she’s so graceful she probably never trips.)

Then I felt a hand on my arm, a gentle but firm grip and a male voice sounded muffled, I think asking me if I was okay. I rolled over a bit and saw something more than a little unbelievable.

Daniel, bent down on one knee, his face looked frightened and worried and he was taking of his jacket. He rolled it up and put it behind my shoulder. He kept asking if I was okay and telling me not to move. I was confused and my natural instinct was to try and get away as he tried to stop my shoulder leaking a dizzying amount of blood (which I am not a fan off at the best of times.)

Then I heard a gunshot. Daniel stood up and I looked to see the Eli go down, his arm bleeding, Helena’s gun aimed in his direction and smoking. As Eli fell she stabbed him with the syringe and pressed down the plunger. Looking him the eye she said something I couldn’t hear and then pushed him to the ground. Turning towards us she walked towards Daniel but he looked confused and backed away from her. She stopped and smiled at him saying “Oh well you’re no use to me now are you?” and vanished.

Like vanished, vanished, not like me. No, I mean there was a popping noise and she was gone. (Now THAT’S an amazing power.)

There was a moment of stunned silence, during which I think I started to loose consciousness. I heard Michael shout at Daniel to get away from me, (I would have blushed if I could have spared the blood flow) and I saw Katie pick up the gun.

Then it’s like a skipping record. (Or when a dvd is scratched and misses out chunks of the film)

Katie Pointing the gun at Eli, who was on his knees. Shouting at him “Tell me, tell me not to shoot you. It’ll make it so much more satisfying when I pull the trigger!”

Then I remember Michael and Katie arguing, Michael standing between Katie and Eli.

I heard Michael saying, “You were in love with him.” And Katie’s voice shaking as she said “No, but I should have been! He deserved more than second place!”

There’s the image of Michaels hand outstretched and Katie holding out the gun like she’s going to give up and give it to him.

Then the last thing I remember is a gunshot.

Then waking up here, in a hospital bed in Germany. Stanley by my bed holding a Magnet shaped like a bottle of beer. Which made all my pain seem okay…

The morphine also helped with that.

Stanley filled me in on certain details that I had missed (being unconscious and all.)

I will expand on those details tomorrow. As I have been advised I need my rest and this took a seriously long time to type with a bullet wound.

So I guess a much less suspenseful…

… to be continued.
